“To photograph, it is to put on the same line of sight the head, the eye and the heart.”
Carlo Pangan was born and raised in Bacolod City, Philippines. A graduate of Fine Arts, majoring in Advertising at La Consolacion College Bacolod, he was first drawn to illustration and graphic design in his early years as a developing artist.
His interest in photography began during his second year of college, when he joined the school magazine as a staff photographer. After graduation, he worked as an assistant and later as an associate photographer, gaining experience in shooting large weddings and events in Bacolod City. This marked the beginning of his professional photography career.
In late 2017, Carlo migrated to Japan to be with his wife. There, his passion for documentary and street photography deepened, inspiring him to create long-term personal projects that explore everyday life and stories on the streets of Japan. Today, his focus remains on documentary work and street photography, using his camera as a tool to observe, preserve, and share the human experience.
